On the Mend

Boy, I don't know what it is about hospitals and doctors lately, but we just can't seem to stay away. Nels hurt his back really bad 2 months ago and has had muscle weakness in his right calf. The MRI showed that he herniated his L5 again (he had surgery on this 9 years ago when we were dating). He had surgery today and it went fairly well. It took longer than anticipated because of the scar tissue from his previous surgery. The nerve was a little frayed. So I guess only time will tell if he will regain that strength. I am optimistic that everything will be ok. He is tough and not much can keep him down. (Although the basketball career may have come to an end which I am sad for because we all know his love for the game). We are also very disappointed that we won't be heading for Fairfield on Thursday to see McKay come home.

He is staying over night in the hospital tonight and we sure miss him at home. I am so grateful for this wonderful man I married. He is so amazing and caring. He is such a hard worker and does so much for me. He has been joking that he is heading straight to work after he is released tomorrow. I don't think that will be happening. He has a great sense of humor even through the tough times. Macee did think it was pretty cool that her dad was having surgery like she did. So hopefully, things will turn around and Macee and Nels will both recover soon. It has been busy around here with 3 surgeries, 3 trips to Salt Lake, 2 MRI's and 15 trips to the doctor between all of us in the last 3 months. Things could be worse, and I am so grateful that everything has been fixable, but I think I am ready to take a break from the stress and worry!

3 truths no lies.....

Here it is 2 truths and 1 lie (for Nels), see how well you can guess.
1) I flew half way across the world with only $5 in my pocket.
2) I won $5,000 in a business plan competition while working on my MBA degree.
3) I have gone to the Western School for Auctioneering so I can start auctioneering at the auto auction.
I want to tag: Chase, Chad, Luke, and Kelly A.

Here is the truth....
1) Was true, coming back from my mission I flew all the way from the Philippines with only $5 in my pocket. Love those airline meals.
2) Also true. Me and my teammates put together a business plan and won the U of M business plan competition. That helped pay for Drea's and my trip to Hawaii.
3) Not true. I will never be an auctioneer at the auto auction I will leave that to someone else.

Flying Bliss (not really)

So yesterday Macee and I made our way down to Salt Lake for her 6 week post-op follow up. We flew down through Denver and then back up to Salt Lake (the tickets were 1/2 the price flying through Denver). We arrived in Salt Lake at noon and Amanda (bless her heart) came and picked us up. We had a quick bite to eat and headed up to Primary Children's. They took off her cast and x-rayed. The bone graft is not quite as far along as the doctor would like, but it looks like the cyst has not started to come back. So she is back in a walking boot for 6 more weeks. We go to our doctor here in Billings in 6 weeks, then back to Salt Lake in April. It wasn't quite the news I was looking for, but we will live with what we got. I was also able to see my Grandpa and Grandma Hobbs for a few hours. Grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer awhile back and had his radiation in Salt Lake while we were down there. Yes, it was kind of a depressing day, but it was good to see grandma and grandpa. We made it home about 10:30 last night, it was a long day and glad it's over!

Thank you Amanda for spending your day being my taxi!!!

Lots of Fun!!!

We had such a great Christmas this year and have so much to be thankful for! Here are just some random pictures of our fun times. We saw most of blogging friends and fam over the hoidays. It was so good to see everyone.

We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma & Grandpa Stott's. We ate lots of food and had a great time.
Anyways, we had a great Christmas and partied at my brother Ben's for New Years. We couldn't have had a better time. It was painful getting the kids up school this morning.

Here you go Misti, our 2007 family re-cap. We went to Seattle
to visit Jon and Ashley for our first annual family trip. Did lots of landscaping and have been slowly working on the basement (we hope to be done with that in 2 months, YEAA!!) Nels and I had a blast going to Chicago. Had a big scare with Macee in October. Had lots of family prayers and fasts. She is doing great. We go back to Salt Lake next week for her 6 week follow up. Annie loved playing soccer and swimming. Carter loves clogging toilets, chewing gum, and taking out the garbage. Macee is so happy to be able to walk again after crawling around for a month. Overall, this has been a year of laughs, tears, learning, and fun times. We have been blessed so much with a great family, friends, kids, job, and on and on....

I am so grateful for the chance I have to stay home with the kids. I am grateful for Nels for all of his hard work and a good job. We are so blessed to have the gospel in our lives. As well as the priesthood and the comfort and blessings we have felt from it. Seriously, we couldn't ask for anymore! Nels and I are looking forward to another great year full of surprises and fun times!!!
